Mike KI5YX will bring his Baofeng programming computer to our meeting at Scott’s hamburgers in downtown Bixby this February 12th at 7PM. You might want to bring your Baofeng to see the freq list he will offer to put in your radio.

Meeting agenda starts with a Show and Tell, up to 5 minutes each for something you just gotta say, like a new radio or home made antenna (whether or not it came out as planned). Then we’ll have the ‘program’ (Bixby club features No dues, No business meeting, and a Tech Program every month), in this case Mike and his ability to load up your Baofeng (or any other radio you bring if you have the cable and Mike’s Chirp program covers that brand). Using the Chirp program he can also modify your settings – Download your current stuff; modify 1 or 2 memories and maybe the power setting for that freq, and then reload the modified setup into your radio.
Mike is also an expert (he did it once or twice) fixing up the TD Radio model H3 Plus with new firmware. The TD is like a UV5R, dual band but with a color screen and AM Aircraft band also (the freqs between 118 and 136 – like the control tower at Tulsa airport) that meets specs, unlike original Baofengs.
We’re not done with antennas (never are). Yet to comment on are, Why does Palomar put a 4:1 balun in the ‘middle’ of their OCF dipole, and How does the Hy-Gain V2 antenna work (i. e. How does the phasing work and why two (2) sets of ground plane thingies).
Hey, what’s with the pic above. Is it my eyes or what?
